Following a period of change for our suppliers, the two barrel sections for the County boiler have now been delivered to Heritage Boiler Steam Services (HBSS) at Huyton near Liverpool. This company has been set up by the team that worked on the firebox at L&NWR Heritage at Crewe and provides continuity.
The firebox has also now been moved from Crewe to HBSS and we are in discussion with them on the next stages of the boiler work which we hope to progress in the new year.
Meantime we are about to order the smokebox and saddle for the front end of the locomotive.
On the fundraising side, we have now raised approx a quarter of the £125,000 which we estimate to be the costs remaining to complete the boiler. If you would like to contribute to the fund to see the ultimate 4-6-0 in action, please see here for ways to donate.
